Distribution company
Movies that have been distributed tend to recieve a lot of advertiment and do well when released in the cinema. They also release straight to DVD. They also use lots of social networking sites to advertise.

Questionnaire Analysis
Questionnaire Analysis
30 people took our
questionnaire. The first question was “are you male or female.” We made sure that an equal amount of males and
females took the test so that it’s more representative. 15 people who took the
questionnaire were male and 15 people who took the questionnaire were female.
The next question
was how old the person taking the questionnaire is. 6 people who took the
questionnaire were 12-14 years old. 13 people were 15-17 years old. 8 people
were 18-20 and 3 people who took the questionnaire were over 20 years old. Most of the participants are young adults aged
between 15-17.
The participants
were asked what movie genre they liked. They were able to write down more than one genre. We found that Dance, Horror, Comedy and Romance were the four most popular movie genres. Dance was the most popular genre, closely followed by horror. 12 people voted for Dance and 11 people voted for Horror. Dance movies and Horror movies are most popular with our target audience. Other genres such as Western and Sci-Fi weren't written by any of the participants so not liked or watched by our target audience.
Then we asked if
they watched movies at the cinema on a regular basis (at least once a month) 17
said yes but 13 said no. Overall most of our target audience go to the cinema
at least once a month but a large number of the target audience don’t go on a
regular basis. When some of the participants were later questioned, they said
that they stream movies through the internet, so we would know that if we were
making the whole movie, we would have to make sure it’s also distributed online
too.
We then asked if the participant had ever seen a dance movie before. All of them except 2 of the particpants said that they have watched a dance movie before, however we don't know if the participants really enjoyed the movie. The 2 participants that hadn't watched a dance movie before were both boys which shows that maybe dance movies are more popular for girls so our movie should target girls more than boys.
The next question was whether participants watched the opening title sequence of movies that they watched. All the participants said yes, but when questioned further they said that they weren't really bothered if they missed the opening credits and half said that they use the opening credits as a oppitunity to make themselves confortable such as getting food.
The last two questions were open questions, so we got a wide range of answers that can't really be generalised or put into quantative data. Participants were asked who their favourite actor or actress was and then asked what their favourite movie is. No one said the same answer but we found that all the actresses and actors named by particpants were all famous, well known celebrities. We also found that more boys named actresses such as Scarlett Johanson and that more girls named actors such as Channing Tatum. This could be because of their image and our particpants are attracted to them.
We also found that when asked what the particpant favourite movie was, they all named a commerical movie which did well in cinema and on DVD sale. Also all the movies that were named were American movies. This shows that our target audience prefers to watch commerical movies rather than independant films.
